New York Jets season analysis till Week 15 of the 2012 season – NFL Feature Part 3
This is the third part of the season analysis of the New York Jets till Week 15 of the regular season. In this edition of the season analysis, we will look into the work done by the team in Week 10, 11 and 12.
Jets were 3-5 heading into the bye week and hoped to cater with problems in various departments of the game during one week of rest.
However, things did not improve after the bye week as Jets continued to face injury problems as good number of starters went into injury list early in the second half of the season.
Jets needed a comeback from their starting quarterback Mark Sanchez who looked lacklustre most of the times during the first half of the game.
Meanwhile, the hyped-up wildcat package of dynamic quarterback Tim Tebow failed to get much playing after early debacles.
The defence remained frustrated in most of the games as they did not have the weapons to defend the small number of points put up by the woeful offence on the board.
Week 10: Seattle Seahawks
Jets continued their dismal run of form after the bye week as they got a 7-28 beating by Seattle Seahawks in Week 10.
It was another disappointing performance by Jets as they faltered on both sides of the field. Moreover, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson made the most out of the situation where Jets defence looked absolutely hopeless.
Wilson finished the game 12 of 19 for 188 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Marshawn Lynch also made a big contribution as he carried the ball 27 times for 124 yards and a touchdown.
Jets offence looked like a sinking ship as Sanchez failed to throw a single touchdown pass throughout the game. On the other hand, the quarterback threw an interception.
Week 11: St. Louis Rams
After losing three games in a row, Jets finally got back into winning ways as they swept St. Louis Rams 27-13 in Week 11, thanks to a turnover-free performance by Jets offence.
Mark Sanchez managed to get hold of things on the field for the first time in many weeks and completed 15 out of 20 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown.
The wildcat package was not applied by Jets head coach Rex Ryan, while Tebow again got just a single snap during the game.
Rushing game continued to thrive as rookie running back Bilal Powell got first touchdown of his career.
Jets defence kept the pressure which led to Rams offence giving away turnovers at regular intervals.
Week 12: New England Patriots
In the second contest between these two teams, New England Patriots got a season sweep over Jets in a dominating manner after giving a 49-19 thrashing.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was again the most influential player on the field as he easily got through the thin defensive line of Jets.
Brady threw three touchdown passes during the game and covered 323 passing yards, getting a quarterback rating of 82.4.
Sanchez continued with his habit of throwing interceptions in this game. The quarterback had 26 completions for 301 yards and a touchdown to his name.
Jets defence went into standstill in some parts of the game including the 52 seconds in the second quarter in which Patriots scored three touchdowns.
