New York Jets vs Denver Broncos – NFL Week 11: Preview
Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos will be aiming for another win as they take on the New York Jets. Broncos have fared well this month after Tebow came forward as the quarterback winning three of the four games played by him. Broncos
now trail the first position in AFC West by just one game. The Jets are looking forward to hitting back after their last loss that has undermined their chances to reign the AFC East.
The Jets chance to rule the AFC East was dealt a blow as they succumbed 37-16 to New England on Sunday night. The defeat came after the Jets had won three straight games and were looking forward to extending their winning streak.
The defeat came amid several silly moves. A poor punt and a missed field goal from about 20-yards were part of the mistakes made by Jets that night. Not to mention the timeout called by Mark Sanchez in the first half that resulted in a touchdown by Patriots
and was termed as the "stupidest play in NFL history" by Head Coach Rex Ryan.
The Jets need to avoid these mistakes in the next game. A different strategy needs to be employed in the game against the Broncos which would be something different than the situation they faced against Tom Brady and Patriots.
The Broncos have been running high recently, rushing 55 times in their last game on Sunday in Kansas City. They currently average 246 rushing yards, the best running yards in NFL since Week 8. The Jets would need to contain the Broncos from running on the
field to as little as possible as that is what the Broncos depend on to score touchdowns when it comes to the offence. The Jets depend on running too but not to the extent that the Broncos do.
"I think it's just one more thing for people to prepare for. It's not like we went out there and did a lot but it's something you have to scheme for, you have to prepare for and you have to be sound." Tebow said describing the
Denver offence.
Broncos Coach John Fox explaining the offence said:
"It's just a mindset. It's a low-risk offense. It's not an indictment on Tim Tebow or whoever our quarterback is," Fox said. "It's just whatever is working for us. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. We tried to possess the ball and
keep our defence fresh."
Broncos however face injury related issues. They have their tailback Knowshon Moreno out for the season with a torn ACL and Jeremiah Johnson has been moved forward as a replacement. Willis McGahee with the highest rushing yards
for the Broncos has sustained a hamstring injury in Sunday’s game and is uncertain for Thursday.
Jets are without LaDainian Tomlinson who left the field with a knee injury in Sunday’s game.
The last encounter between these two teams occurred on Oct. 17, 2010, with the Jets managing a 24-20 victory in the ending minutes of the game. It was Tomlinson then who managed his second touchdown with about a minute remaining
in the game. So the Jets may miss Tomlinson a lot this time.
