New York Jets vs Kansas City Chiefs – NFL Week 14: Preview
The New York jets will be looking to extend their two game win as they host the Kansas City Chiefs who would be playing their first game in the new MetLife Stadium this Sunday.
The Jets fuelled up by two wins in the last two games would be looking to consolidate their chances of making it to the playoffs. The Jets managed to get hold of the Buffalo Bills 28-24 after a closely fought encounter in week
12 back at home.  This was followed by a victory over the Washington Redskins at the FedEx Field in week 13.
A win over the Chiefs this time would bolster their chances of playing in the playoffs which at the time look bleak. The chances were frail for the jets after they suffered two consecutive defeats in November. One was at the hand
of New England Patriots in Jets home ground, followed by a 17-13 defeat curtailed in the last minute against the Denver Broncos.
New York head coach Rex Ryan seemed hopeful of a win. He said, "We're a team that just wants to win and get in the playoffs and see what happens. Our goal is intact, even though it looked really bad a few weeks ago." Ryan said.
Ryan maintained that the team did not lack in confidence saying that the team had plenty of it.  He did not appear deterred by the losses in five games and maintained that they were strong enough to beat any team in the league.
The Jets running back Shonn Greene looks pretty strong as he scored three touchdowns and ran for 88 yards against the Redskins. Greene may play a decisive role in engineering a win for the Jets.
On the other hand, the Chiefs have fared poorly in their last five games being unable to score more than 10 points. However now with Kyle Orton as the quarterback they have more chances of scoring points. The Chiefs allow about
130 yards in a game. The bright spot for the Chiefs may turn out to be Thomas Jones. Jones had an impressive career of 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2009. He has played one game against the Jets back in 2006 for Chicago where he ran for 121 yards.
The Chiefs defence has fared better than their offense and performed well in their Sunday’s game in Chicago. However, the Chiefs still appear hopeful. Their head coach, Todd Haley said, "We're coming on at the right time. If we
can figure out a way to win -- pretty, ugly or indifferent -- we have a chance."
The Jets have won the last two times against the Chiefs which included a 28-24 victory in 2008.
