New York Jets wide receiver Stephen Hill and tight end Dustin Keller hopeful for Week 6 – NFL News
New York Jets will finally have their tight end Dustin Keller back on the field on Sunday, October 14, 2012, as they take on Indianapolis Colts. Also, wide receiver Stephen Hill has fully recovered from his injury and will likely be available.
It is very good news for Jets offence that is struggling with injuries since the start of the season.
Keller will hopefully start for the first time since he got a hamstring injury during the Jets Week 1 game against Buffalo Bills.
The tight end’s injury took a lot of time to recover. Keller got 30% to 50% of the snaps during the recent practice session with the starting offence this week. Giving his remarks about dealing with injury, Keller said:
"It's the first time I've really missed a practice or a game. It's one thing if you know [you] have a timetable, OK, you're going to be out for four or five weeks and you know that. So you go into these games knowing you're not going to be playing, but each
and every week when it's like, 'OK, I think I'm going to go,' and it comes to game time and it's like, 'Not today.' And that's for like four or five weeks. It's miserable but you've got to do what you've got to do."
Jets head coach Rex Ryan indicated after practice session on Friday, October 12, that Keller will likely be taking limited snaps in his first game after injury.
On the other hand, Hill’s return will certainly affect the offensive output for the Jets in a positive way.
The rookie wide receiver has been badly missed by Jets, especially after the season-ending knee injury to Pro Bowl wide receiver Santonio Holmes.
Ryan has said that Hill will play the entire game on Sunday, and will continue to play as starter in absence of Holmes.
Jets will put up their best offence in recent weeks, but many other key players are still injured. They include centre Nick Mangold, nose tackle Sione Pouha, cornerback Darrelle Revis and nose tackle Kenrick Ellis.
