New York Jets wide receiver Stephen Hill out for indefinite period with knee injury – NFL News
New York Jets wide receiver Stephen Hill is diagnosed to have a sprained right knee after going through MRI on Monday, December 10, 2012. Owing to the injury, the player is now out indefinitely as there is no timeline given by the doctors for his return
to the field.
Jets head coach Rex Ryan gave details about Hill’s injury saying that the player is taking the recovery process on day-to-day basis. According to the Jets’ website, Ryan said:
“Stephen [Hill] unfortunately has that injury. I’m not sure the extent of that injury just yet, really with all of the injuries. Guys are still getting MRIs and things like that.”
According to different reports, Hill currently has a sprain on his right LCL and will not require a surgery to heal it.
Hill injured his knee during the second quarter of Week 14 game against Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, December 09. It was the player’s same knee that got hurt in Week 13 against Arizona Cardinals.
The rookie wide receiver has caught 21 passes this season for 252 yards and has scored three touchdowns.
The injury to Hill means Jets are again left very thin in the wide receiving corps with wide receiver Clyde Gates and tight end Dustin Keller already out with injuries.
Rumours are doing the rounds that the Jets might acquire the services of their former wide receiver Braylon Edwards who was recently released by Seattle Seahawks. Giving his view about this issue, Ryan said:
“We always look at all possibilities. Obviously, we’ve added Clyde Gates, we've added Mardy Gilyard. I think our pro department does a tremendous job of finding guys for us. Hopefully, that won’t be the case with Stephen. Hopefully he’ll be able to bounce
back. We hope to get Clyde Gates back. Again, he was a guy that was really coming on for us.”
Jets have not played most of the season with their top wide receiver Santonio Holmes who got lisfranc injury in Week 4 which ended his season.
Hill was drafted by Jets in the second round (43rd overall pick) in this year’s draft.
