New York Knick President says Denver Nuggets reluctant to accept players from them
After several weeks of trade talks revolving around Carmelo Anthony, New York Knicks President of Basketball Operation Donnie Walsh gave the reason Tuesday afternoon behind the hesitancy of Denver Nuggets
to enter negotiations with them.  Walsh said the Nuggets front office believe the Knicks do not have the assets to match Anthony’s caliber.
The 69-year-old Walsh said the only roadblock in the potential blockbuster trade for Anthony was the Nuggets’ sour view on their roster.
Walsh claimed the Nuggets are not much excited about acquiring several players from them and draft picks in exchange for the high-scoring superstar.
Walsh also denied allegations from the Nuggets that they used a “back door” recruiting pitch to attract Anthony.
"Oh no. I don't think that's true," Walsh told the Knicksblog.com Tuesday. "My understanding is they don't want to deal with us because they don't think we have the players that fit their team."
The Knicks currently have Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, and Eddy Curry as trade baits, but Walsh said the Nuggets were not high on the players.
Meanwhile, Anthony finally had a chance to talk with reporters Monday during the Nuggets Media Day.
In the news conference, Anthony spoke about his eagerness to start training camp.  Anthony also mellowed down the ongoing trade talks, claiming he never wanted to be traded.
“I'm leaving my options open. At the end of the season, I'll sit down with my team; I'll sit down with the Nuggets," Anthony stated during the Media Day. "I've never said I wanted to be traded," he said.
"I never once said anything about trade talk. There's been a lot of speculation going on."
Anthony, three-time NBA all-star, has yet to sign a three-year $65 million extension offer from the Nuggets, prompting the team management to find available trade partners before they lose the superstar
without compensation next offseason.
The New Jersey Nets were making aggressive moves to acquire the small forward, but it appears their plan hit a snag a new with Anthony’s media day comments.
