New York Knicks’ Amar’e Stoudemire uncertain for Game 3 - NBA Play-offs Update
The New York Knicks’ Amar’e Stoudemire is uncertain for their National Basketball Association play-off Game 3 if he cannot recover from his back spasms.
Stoudemire was unable to play the second half of the game against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday at the TD Garden, Boston.
He only stayed on the court for 18 minutes and left with his extensive back ache which certainly affected the result of the match, as the Celtics overpowered the Knicks 96-93. Stoudemire scored four points and five rebounds in the game. His team-mate forward
Shawne Williams came in as a replacement after he left the court.
Though Stoudemire is very vigilant for playing every opportunity he gets, but on that particular occasion the pain did not allow him to take any further part and preferred resting his back in the locker room. He received treatment by the Knicks’ doctors
who were hopeful that this was not a major concern for the 28-year-old.
Stoudemire also spoke to the media and said, "I couldn't hardly move. I was trying to play through it. Once I felt that sharp pain, I couldn't take it. I believe it happened in warmups. I tapped the glass with my left hand, dunked with my right. That's when
I felt it.”
The New York Knicks’ head coach Mike D’Antoni told the reporters as he is very optimistic regarding his centre Stoudemire and said, “He should be OK for Friday, I think he did it in warm-ups, but he’ll tell you.”
Though Stoudemire and his Coach are hopeful for the upcoming encounter against the Celtics on Friday, but nobody in the Knicks’ management has given definitive answer to the media concerning Stoudemire’s availability in the crucial third play-off game. At
the moment the Celtics are leading this best of seven first round series 2-0.
The All Star Stoudemire is playing tremendously in this season. He is certainly proving a point scoring machine for the Knicks as his average reached 28.0 points per game, the highest on the New York’s roster.
The Knicks have already suffered a huge blow going into the play-offs as their other All Star Chauncey Billups was injured due to his strained knee. The absence of these two superstars certainly will give a clear advantage to the Celtics to outclass the
Knicks once again.
