New York Knicks: Past, present and the future – NBA Special Report (Part-2)
According to the schedule released by the NBA, if the 2011-12 season starts on time, the Knicks will play their opening night game with Miami Heat on second November. The game is of prime importance as far as the Knicks are concerned,
because that game can be an indicator of the Knicks offensive might against the Big Three trio of Heat, including LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
However, toppling the triple ripple of Heat, who will be the like wounded tigers in the next season, will be a task a bit too tough even for the likes of Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire. Still, if there is an offense in the
East that comes near to the offensive prowess of the Heat, it is that of the Knicks and one thing is for sure, the crowd will get to see some fireworks come that night.
Their next important game will be against the Indiana Pacers on December 13th. In the last playoffs, Chicago Bulls were supposed to blow away by the Indiana Pacers in the first round of playoffs. However, the Pacers
showed the whole world that they were no pushover and gave the Bulls a run for their money. The Bulls did win the series 4-1, but the Pacers certainly turned a few heads.
They are a young team which is going to be coached by the dynamic Frank Vogel. And now that they have Brian Shaw as a lead assistant, the Pacers are destined to be a powerhouse in the East next season. So when the Knicks do come
against them, they have to be prepared in every sense of the word.
Their next important stop will be Philadelphia 76ers, a team that finished on the number 7 spot in the Eastern Conference last season. Last season, the Sixers had inducted Coach Doug Collins who is not only boosting up the confidence
of players, but is also working on their skills in order to make them more productive.
He will definitely be preparing them to play against the Mike D’ Antoni’s team. The fans of both these teams will be looking forward to see Andre Iguodala one on one with Carmelo Anthony.
In the week that will follow, the New York Knicks will first take on their last season’s nemesis Boston Celtics away on December 22 and then at the Madison Square Garden on the Christmas day.
With a team like Boston Celtics, a match is always worth watching. The basketball fans will definitely going to enjoy this match on Christmas holiday. The competition has been fierce in the past whenever the two teams faced each
other and the same will be expected in future. In the last season, the Knicks were defeated by the Celtics in all the games in the first round of playoffs as well as the regular season.
