New York Knicks Sweep Away the Washington Wizards with an Easy 112-91 Victory
The New York Knicks have been in the lead in their past matches. Whether it is the Boston Celtics or the Washington Wizards, both teams have been knocked down by the Knicks in a subtle manner.
The New York Knicks outscored the Washington Wizards in their encounter by scoring 112 points against their 91. The Knicks surprised the home audience by giving them one of those things that they wanted the most.
Inside the Arena
Among the many witnesses who were there to enjoy the game were also present comedian Chris Rock and the famous New York Red Bulls star Thierry Henry. Thierry Henry was there to buck up his friend Ronny Turiaf who is playing centre
for the Knicks.
The Knicks have an extraordinary quality to shoot the ball and that’s where they can’t be stopped. Not only do they have a winning streak while playing against the Wizards but they also have forwards like Amar’e Stoudemire. He
is the guy who everyone is afraid of.
The Knicks would not let the spotlight fade on their end of the game. Six of the players from the Knicks team scored in double figures. Tony Douglas was prominent with his 19 points and 10 rebounds. 18 points were added by Amar’e
Stoudemire and Danilo Gallinari had a classic 16.
Andray Blatche blew for the Wizards with 22 points. Unfortunately, the player could only score six after the first quarter. Arenas scored a total 18 points; Wall was successful in scoring 13 points, 7 assists and gave 9 turnovers.
So far this season the Knicks are leading the Wizards by 3-2, 1-3.
Knicks or Kicks?
The Knicks were fantastic in the overall stats. They led the Wizards in rebounds, offensive rebounds and even in the points in the paint. The Knicks scored 8 rebounds whereas the Wizards had 7. The Knicks covered 13 offensive rebounds;
the Wizards covered 9.
The Knicks outsmarted the Wizards even in the fast break points by scoring 19 against their 13. Knicks had 46 points in the paint while the Wizards had 38.
It was in the 2nd quarter that the Knicks took a magical hold of the game.
The game became favourable for the Knicks when they outscored the Wizards 33-22 in the 2nd quarter. Douglas scored nine points in that period of time. Felton should be thanked for his addition of six points after that.
The Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni is very hopeful for the future as he said that they would be 4-2. He also added, “I’m sticking to my story.”
The game met its turning point when the Wizards went to lead the Knicks 92-86 after 12 point second cut. This was a result of a 3-pointer by Gilbert Arenas. The Knicks then cleverly tricked the Wizards into a 102-90 by using a
10-4 run that was capped by Douglas, a short jumper.
Douglas scored a hot number of 49 points that also includes his career-high 30 points in the win against Chicago this Thursday. Danilo Gallinari also made his season high 24 points.
John Wall could not add more stars to his sky as he could only score 13 points in this one.
Wilson Chandler made a reverse slam that became a part of the dunks that sweetened the game for the Knicks.
