New York Knicks bag fifth straight with a win over Charlotte Bobcats
The New York Knicks continue to stay hot as they posted a hard-earned 99-95 win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday 24 November at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte.
Raymond Felton, who bolted out of the Bobcats to sign with the Knicks during the off-season, received a warm welcome in his first game back in Charlotte and he was obviously pumped up as
he finished the game with 23 points and 13 assists for the Knicks.
“It was very emotional, man,” said Felton, who shot 9-for-18 from the field for the Knicks. “It's good to win and be back at home. “It was very warming to my heart to hear the crowd do that.
I still love the fans of Charlotte.”
The 26-year-old point guard and former North Carolina standout also had a huge play down the stretch the sealed the hard-earned win for the Knicks, who also defeated the Bobcats, 110-107,
on Tuesday 23 November in New York.
With New York holding a two-point lead, 97-95, with 10 seconds left in the game, Landry Fields missed his second free throw that could have extended their lead to three points. However, Felton
came to the rescue and grabbed an offensive rebound that led to two free throws for Danilo Gallinari that sealed their eight win of the season.
“Nobody really thought to box me out because I never went in to rebound anytime on a free throw,” said Felton on his big offensive rebound. “I took it as an opportunity.”
Wilson Chandler also had a decent game for the Knicks, finishing with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Amar’e Stoudemire had a share of the spotlight as he scored 20 points and blocked
six shots, helping the Knicks extend their winning run to five straight, but the all-star power-forward said that they still have to make a lot of adjustments.
“Winning five straight feels great,” Stoudemire said. “But being 8-8 and .500 is something that we've got to improve on. We still have a lot of work to do.”
Tyrus Thomas racked up 26 points and 11 rebounds; Stephen Jackson had 18 points, while D.J Augustin tallied 14 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, but their productions were not enough
as the Bobcats absorbed their second-straight defeat. Charlotte also dropped their record 5 wins and 10 losses.
“We play like a bunch of strangers,” Bobcats coach Larry Brown said. “No ball movement and too many guys standing around. When you have to fight uphill all the time, you have to play perfect
at the end, but this team does not quit.”
