New York Knicks defeat Philadelphia 76ers 110-88 to make it three out of three: NBA Recap
On Monday night, the New York Knicks kept their winning streak alive when they cruised past Philadelphia Sixers 110-88 at the Wells Fargo Center.
Philadelphia Sixers started well when they raced to 9-0 early on in the first quarter but it wasn’t their night to be. The Knicks (now 3-0) eventually outscored them in all the four quarters. Seven Knicks got into double scoring
figures with Carmelo Anthony leading the pack at 21 points and 7 rebounds.
Knicks came back in the first quarter, recovering from 12-2 at one stage, to make it 14-14 with a quick brace and closed the quarter at 25-21. They carried their momentum going into the second quarter and were 42-34 at one stage
before Sixers attempted to cut their lead but was restored immediately thanks to two three pointers by Knicks in quick succession.  Scoring was pretty even in the later part of the quarter and the Knicks went into half time holding a 56-48 lead.
The game was taken away from the Sixers in the third quarter when Knicks made a 10 point run racing from 64-54 to 74-54. Pablo Prigioni scored a three pointer to make it 84-64 and then nailed another one with only one second to
go to end the quarter at 89-68.
The Sixers tried to come back in the game in the last quarter, the closest in terms of margin in scoring. The Knicks though, still outscored the Phillies by one point to close the game comfortably at 110-88.
"We've run into a team the last couple games who is playing as well as anybody in the NBA. If Miami is the number one team, New York just beat them by 20. They right now do not have a weakness ", the Sixers coach Doug Collins reflected
on the game afterwards.
It was a combined performance from the Knicks with J.R Smith scoring 17 points and Raymond Felton 16 with 8 assists.  Ronnie Brewer added 13 and also grabbed 10 rebounds to notch up a double-double. New Yorkers were amazing with
their free throws with a cent percent 19-of-19 while the Sixers only managed 84.6 percent from the line. The last time the Knicks had at least 19 free throws without missing any one came way back in 2005.
Jrue Holiday led the Sixers with 17 points. Dorell Wright and Thaddeus Young each had 14 while Nick Young managed 12. New York shot 46.4 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from three point range, while the Sixers went a disappointing
33.7 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from the three point range. Knicks had 7 steals and as many turnovers while Sixers only managed 3 steals and gave away 13 turnovers.
