New York Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire would love to team up with Carmelo Anthony
When asked about Denver Nuggets standout Carmelo Anthony, newly-acquired New York Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire said, "I'm not a recruiter."
In spite of his dismissive tone, Stoudemire told NBA Fanhouse that he'd love to see the three-time All Star don a New York Knicks jersey at least by next season.

"I love Carmelo, man,'' said Stoudemire, just before his squad took to the floor of the Pepsi Center against Denver.

"He's a good friend of mine. So, obviously, any time you team up with great friends of yours, it'd be a lot of fun. But, again, we both have our individual situations with our particular
teams and we have to focus in on that. So we can't really determine what the near future holds. Any time time you can team up with a good friend, that would be great.''
Angling to be a Knick

Stoudemire signed with the Knicks last summer, agreeing to a five-year deal worth around $100 million. Anthony, on the other hand, refused to sign a three-year $64.47 million extension
offered by the Nuggets. Anthony can opt out of his contract next summer and become a free agent. In an earlier report from the New York Post, Anthony indicated that the Knicks remain as his top choice as a trade destination.

"I'm just like LeBron," Anthony told the New York Post's Peter Vecsey. "It's all about winning. That's all I care about. I want the chance to compete at the championship level. All the other
stuff is irrelevant"

"We'd all love Carmelo here,'' Stoudemire told NBA Fanhouse. "We understand what type of player he is and how he may help the team. But we can't focus on that right now. We have to focus
on the situation at hand. We have to wrap up some wins.''

In spite of this, Stoudemire said that he "wouldn't be surprised'' Anthony stays with the Nuggets for the entire season.

"Denver's playing well and he's playing well,'' he said.
