New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin hopes to return in time for Game 4 – NBA Update
After having a surgery on his left knee, New York Knicks sensation Jeremy ‘Linsanity’ Lin was supposed to make a comeback after six weeks, which ruled him out for the entire first round of the playoffs. However in recent comments,
Lin has come out to say that he is hopefully going to be returning in the game 4 of the series against the Miami Heat, set to take place at the Madison Square Garden on May 6th.
"I think I'm gonna evaluate it at the end of the week and see," Lin said after the Knicks' practice on Sunday. "Hopefully I'll feel good by then ... the main thing is to be able to play without thinking about (the injury)."
This kind of stirs up the spirits in the Knicks roster, who lost Iman Shumpert with a torn ACL in game one and were looking at the prospect of being short handed in the point guard department with Baron Davis being their only hope.
Knicks can face another setback for Game 2 of the series as they might have to play without their centre, Tyson Chandler who at the moment seems to suffering from flu like symptoms. According to interim head coach, Mike Woodson,
Chandler`s availability still remains as a game time decision and hoped that 7ft 1 inch centre recovers in time.
On the matter of Lin, who for the first time was able to put some kind of weight on his knee, playing one on one with the assistant Kenny Atkinson in the practice session on Saturday, Woodson was not quite sure of an immediate
return.
Nothing can be said on the matter of him returning in time for Game 4 and even Lin, himself cannot promise anything. Courtesy of the practice action, Lin felt soreness in his knee and hope to get it looked over on Monday.
"I don't really want to make a promise because I just don't know how I'm gonna feel," - said Lin
Even though it will be a very promising situation for the Knicks if Lin is able to fully recover in time. However, Woodson has more important matters on hand at the moment because along with Chandler, Baron Davis is also a game
time decision with a sore back. If Davis doesn’t play, then the Knicks backcourt will really be weak.
For the Knicks, just when all the pieces were coming together with Amare Stoudemire returning from injury and Carmelo Anthony finding his form, things have started to fall apart even quicker and now they find themselves in a tough
situation as they go up against the resurgent Heat on their own back yard, trying to avoid a 2-0 tagline.
