New York Knicks lose sixth straight, Charlotte Bobcats win, 114-106 at Time Warner Arena
NBA: Not even Carmelo Anthony's 36 points could help provide a support to the New York Knicks who stumbled against the Charlotte Bobcats, 114-106, Saturday night. The Bobcats lifted against the Knicks going high above as eight of the players from the
squad scooped out in double digits.
Boris Diaw led all the Bobcats with 20 points letting the opposition slide towards sixth straight loss. New York has now depleted to their ninth of previously played 10 games. Three of their games have been under .500. perhaps it is a moment that an
alarm be rang.
The Bobcats outrebounded the Knicks, 46-39 and they executed a tenacious attack from the painted area, outscoring them by a margin of 54-38.
What was most amazing about the game was the offence with which the Bobcats played. Their bench scored 38 points and three of the bench players contributed in double figures. None of the Bobcats went back with a nil, as eight of the players contributed
in double figures whereas the rest made an impact with their blooming performance.
The winning team's coach was so excited about the win, especially the offence that his team displayed. Paul Silas was quoted as saying, "I was so pleased with how we executed offensively. We played good defence, but our offensive execution was really
good. Having eight guys get in double figures was just unbelievable. We needed this so bad and (the Knicks) needed it also so it was whoever wanted it the most and obviously we did."
Making the most tenacious efforts to execute an assault over the slumping Knicks, the Bobcats bench played very well in the second quarter. Dominic McGuire, Shaun Livingston and Matt Carroll knew how to keep the Knicks away from the ball. They put
their action together to grab the initial 12 points of the second stanza. Soon the Bobcats were on a 22-4 run and outscoring the opposition by 52-35, up they went, never to relinquish after that.
Anthony pulled out 20 of his total 36 points in the latter half of the game. The player was an all-rounder, hitting three 3-pointers, 7 of 8 free throws and finishing on a 13 for 25 shooting from the field. He grabbed four rebounds, gave an assist,
took one steal and made a block on the opposition's shot as well. Chauncey Billups made a contribution of 14 points in the loss. The newly acquired guard also pulled out 10 assists, thus finishing with a double-double. Amar'e Stoudemire pulled off 14 points
and grabbed six rebounds finishing 4 for 13 from the field. Landry Fields led the entire Knicks bench with 16 points and six rebounds in his 33 plus minutes of action.
Stephen Jackson scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Bobcats in the victory. The player finished on a 7 for 16 shooting from the field overcoming a hamstring that might have abandoned him from doing so.
He was very happy about how the team executed the offence and was quoted as saying, "Those guys really stepped it up for us tonight. We couldn't have done it without them. It was great to be back out there tonight with the guys and we're starting to
get on a roll out there with this little winning streak."
