New York Knicks star Baron Davis focused on making return despite injuries – NBA Update
The career graph of Baron Davis is on a downwards trajectory, and was done no good by his recent season ending injuries. But the New York Knicks star is still determined to make a comeback.
Baron, who has a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a torn medial collateral ligament, not to mention a partial tear of the patella tendon, is not going to give in.
At 33 years of age, and with his game not what it once used to be, many thought such devastating injuries would be the end of Barons career. The veteran though isn’t one of them and despite needing crutches at present; he is focused on making a comeback.
“I don't know how long (for the brace and crutch), but once I am done, it's on to rehab,” said Davis. “I am coming back.”
And he knows where he wants to return to; the New York Knicks. Davis only joined the Knicks last season after being waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the point guard has taken to the franchise and the city like fish to water.
The playmaker said he loved the whole atmosphere in the city and there was no doubt in his mind about where he wants to play after recovering from the injuries.
“I think that people, the fans are kids out here playing basketball right now, dedicating their lives to it, I felt that. I felt that NY is the mecca of basketball,” Davis said as reported by the NYDailyNews. “The love that I have for basketball, I feel it here. This is the best stage and the best opportunity, to play for a top-notch team.”
He is also confident of the prospects of the team, who have established super stars in Amar’e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony, as well as rising stars like Jeremy Lin. The Knicks did go out early once again in the playoffs, but Davis believes they are a team on the rise just hampered with injuries.
“We have a talented team,” Davis said. “We have a good team that was getting better, but we had a lot of injuries.”
