Sharp shooting forward Steve Novak reveals Mike Woodsons' plans to host pre-camp and likes what his coach has in mind....
At the end of last season, Mike Woodson still under his interim tenure, took the New York Knicks to the first round of the playoffs. He is now the permanent head coach with the Big Apple franchise and has his eyes set on doing
even better from last time around.
In order to achieve this goal, the Knicks coaching staff have planned to hold a pre-camp starting from Monday which will go all the way to October 1st.
Steve Novak, the best three point shooter from last season, confirmed the planned pre-camp starting and also revealed that most Knicks plan on attending in order to develop on-court chemistry.
“We just want to make sure we hit the ground running," Novak said.
Most of pre-camp activities will revolve around conditioning and workouts, but Woodson may have a bigger purpose in mind and that is to get everyone together. As talented as their roster is, the Knicks struggle when it comes to
playing together especially their star players like Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire. This problem would continue to cause trouble for the Knicks as they have made many roster changes during the summer with several new point guards coming into the system
- Jason Kidd, Raymond Felton, Pablo Prigioni and Chris Smith were all not there last season.
So in order to get a head start on the chemistry issue, Woodson has planned a pre-camp. And Novak who spent most of his summer training with his college team Marquette likes what Woodson has in mind.
"The way he's gone out of his way this summer to make sure he stays in touch with everybody and visits guys, that goes a long way," Novak said.
"I think to build a winning culture, you have to do a little bit more, and that makes you a better team in the NBA. And I feel like knowing that your coach cares about you and he's thinking about you during the summer, and he has
plans for you, that goes a long way."
