New York Knicks use a balanced attack to decimate Indiana Pacers – NBA Recap
On Friday night, New York Knicks played their 2nd game under Mike Woodson’s stewardship, against Indiana Pacers at the Madison Square Garden.
Tyson Chandler and J.R. Smith tallied 16 apiece while Jeremy Lin netted 13 as the Knicks edged out the Pacers, 115-100, and rolled onto a 2 game winning streak. Carmelo Anthony poured in 12 points to go with 7 boards and 5 assists
as Knicks grabbed their 20th victory of the season.
Coach Mike Woodson, after having two straight victories under his belt, was all praise for his team.
"We are trying to back into the playoff picture. We are playing with more urgency now and that is important. I think tonight, our guys responded in a big way."
Knicks had lost 6 in a row and were at the final 8th spot for the playoffs when Mike Woodson stepped up as coach. He has regrouped the team and as a result New York is displaying a good show from start till the end.
On the other hand, Indiana never led in the game and had its 2 game winning streak snapped after this fiasco. They were led by Darren Collison, who tallied 15 while guard A.J. Price had 14 points. Dahntay Jones collected 13 coming
off the bench while George Hill and Tyler Hansbrough shared 12 apiece for Pacers.
After some seesaw action in the opening frame Knicks raced away with a 12-2 run and claimed a 15-4 advantage.  They took control of things after stretching it to 21-6 late in the 1st stanza and later on capped off the
segment with a double digit 24-14 lead.
There was no turning back for them as they raced further away with a 17-8 spurt in the 2nd and widened the gap to 41-22 deep through the frame. The away side tried to shave off the deficit with a 9-2 run and reduced
the gap to 43-31 but Knicks neutralized that with a 7-nothing run to conclude the 1st half with a mammoth 50-31 lead.
New York cruised through the 3rd and deep into the frame they were leading the scores with 72-51 margin. They left the striving Pacers baffled with another 16-7 spurt to enjoy a 30 points 88-58 margin by the end of 3rd
quarter.
Midway through the final frame Knicks were comfortably leading the scores with 102-70, Indiana denied to go down without a fight and came up with a huge  24-8 spurt to shave off the 32 points lead to just 110-94 with 01:35 in hand.
The game finally ended at 115 – 100.
