New York Mets, Texas Rangers frontrunners for Oakland Athletics' Andrew Bailey -MLB Update
Without a doubt, Oakland Athletics’ closer, Andrew Bailey, is one of the most wanted players in the specific position of the 2011 Major League Baseball (MLB) offseason, who now has also attracted the attention of the New York Met and Texas Rangers, both
teams which are willing to do anything to acquire the renowned player.
With only three seasons of experience in the MLB, Bailey has certainly established himself as one of the bigger names in the league in such a short span of time at the age of 27 after playing mostly in the minor leagues.
The Mets and Rangers have now added their names to a list full of nearly a dozen teams already that are trying to make arrangements in order to get the players attention, but it seems like Bailey has not decided on any single teams as of yet.
In other reports, the Mets have also decided who they will be looking to choose from if Bailey does not decide to sign with them, they are Jon Rauch of the Toronto Blue Jays and Brad Lidge of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Bailey is believed to already have been approached by the New York Mets, but due to a high asking price, the team did not give in and with the intense competition from other teams that are willing to give it up, the player just might not have to choose the
Mets after all.
If the Mets cannot have Bailey, many analysts are of the view that they will decide to go with the Phillies, Brad Lidge, for the upcoming season, which would most likely be a long term contract if not a single year deal.
Andrew Bailey is not a free agent yet, but is eligible for arbitration, since Oakland has expressed its interests in trading the player, they have also let it be known that they are looking for batters, more specifically, outfield bats.
Having made 75 saves and achieving a 2.07 ERA over three seasons, Andrew Bailey is a player that can make a big difference for many teams looking to change themselves around next season, making it interesting to see which team is successful in making the
trade.
