New York Mets’ Carlos Beltran suffered tendinitis injury in left knee – MLB News
Carlos Beltran, an outfielder for the New York Mets was sidelined with tendinitis in his left knee, few days ago. The right hander would be considered as a centre-fielder but played at right field position in the past games. With less than a month left over
before the regular season starts, the Mets again must speculate about the situation and certainly the accessibility of Beltran.
Beltran, who moved toward almost at every stage of his training workout cautiously because of his right knee will mostly be locking down for four or five days due to soreness in the left knee. It is not the same knee that had been trouble in 2009 and 2010.
Carlos is sure about the latest injury that it is not serious, as he has suffered some level of tenderness since he started running in camp. He supposed that the setback is the effect of compensating for his testing right knee.
At that distressful incident, the Mets’ General Manager Sandy Alderson said, "I think it's probably encouraging that it was the other knee, and not the right knee. The medical staff wants to get it calmed down and quieted down and taken care of now, rather
than letting it linger for any length of time.”
After Alderson proclaimed the latest advance in Beltran's story, the 33-year-old Beltran stated that the soreness was not the end result of a particular event and he could play if required. He played Mets’ split-squad games with additional three weeks before
the start of Spring Training season.
Beltran has started to take medication, as doctors prescribed an inoculation of cortisone, which was used to counteract the indications of tendinitis. But it was not suggested by the Mets' instructors and orthopedist.
Later on, Beltran spoke to media that, "I started feeling it when I first started running [in camp], the first couple days of Spring Training. I felt like I was compensating, and it got worse, worse, worse, to the point where now I have to make sure it doesn't
get worse than that."
Beltran also thinks that he can be set for the Opening Day, as he has still to play the field. He hasn't played as a right fielder since 2000 and now he has to play in consecutive games. Definitely, his first game action lasted on March in which he performed
as a designated hitter.
The Mets wished that Beltran should have to play in replicated game conditions in which he could bat but wouldn't require to run. Beltran would persist to take batting workout and pick up weights. However, he will not run until four days.
The organisation has emergency plans in position if Beltran misses the next games. Fernando Martinez, who has appeared more content during this spring season, could play as a right fielder.
Some team members of the club consider that right field as Martinez's best place, in spite of the team's requirement. Willie Harris and Scott Hairston are in the squad as well, but both are supporting players. Nick Evans, who is out of alternatives, is also
accessible.
