New York Mets GM Sandy Alderson shows optimism ahead of next season – MLB News
As the next Major League Baseball season is approaching, almost every team in the League is putting some extra effort giving slight output in the media on their level of preparations ahead of the next big season.
Lately, the New York Mets' general manager Sandy Alderson spoke to the media and told all the reporters that his team is ready for the next season and is currently in high spirits to face every opponent especially in their Division.
Despite the fact that the Mets have not included many new players in the offseason, but still Alderson was certain on the fact of relying on experienced players in 2012 as these former players will be looking to play well whenever the team needs them.
Reporters however, did ask him as to how the Mets will be tackling the situation compared with other teams including the Miami Marlins, Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals, who have improved their roster respectively during the offseason.
Alderson replied with optimism and said, “We’re pretty much there, I don’t see what’s out there filling our specific needs. We have every reason to be optimistic. There are unanswered questions on every team. It’s very important that they not be discouraged and they shouldn’t be. Some teams improved themselves on paper, like the Marlins and maybe Washington, but we can’t let that affect us. It’s important guys have the right attitude. I think they do and we’ll convey that to them.”
Seeing the current situation of the Mets’ 40-man roster, experts feel that they are not prepared with good pitchers and this factor alone will probably hurt them later during the regular season. Contrary to that, the Mets’ serious rivals, the Nationals, Phillies, Braves and the Marlins are full prepared with tons of new experienced talent.
To face these teams in the next encounter, the Mets will be looking to come up with a well prepared strategy on both ends. Not only do they need to give key suggestions to their pitchers to throw well against the fiercest hitters but they will want to prepare their hitters to do well in order to stay ahead of their rival league hitters.
