New York Mets Ike Davis upbeat to rebound after failure in 2012 Major League regular season-MLB

First baseman for New York Mets, Ike Davis is ready to remove worries of the fans of his presence on the roster. Fans were critical of his being in the team during the 2012 Major League regular season, because of a series of subpar outings by him at the
plate.
Davis was a complete failure for the greater part of the last season. Despite the opportunities that he received, he could not contribute much offensively.
The management showed an extra ordinary level of confidence in his abilities.
Although it was highly likely he is shipped to the Minor League somewhere during the season, the officials kept him in the team.
Not paying attention to the heavy criticism that emerged against Davis, they allowed the first baseman to have at-bats and stay as a regular member of the team.
Now as the season has ended, Davis confesses he struggled badly and could not live up to expectations.
He is of the view that the process of his recovery from ankle surgery during the season did not let him play at his full potential. The rehabilitation, along with other health issues, inhibited his best to come off.
However, currently he is feeling healthy and all set to put up consistent shows.
Commenting on the 2013 season, Davis is of the opinion that because of the Washington Nationals and the Philadelphia Phillies, the level of competition in the National League East will be extremely high.
“Every year, or at least the last three, our division has done moves like that and every year we know our division is one of the toughest in the league, especially because of the Nationals,” Davis said. “They had the best record in the league last year and
the best pitching staff, and the Phillies are always competitive and trying to get better and the Braves are also doing the same thing.”
Davis has cited the formidable rotation of the Nationals, while he believes winning matches against the teams in their Division will not be easy.
Regardless of the competitiveness of the clubs, if Davis returns to his top-notch form, he can pound even the best hurlers of the game.
That is what the Mets will be looking forward to from him during the 2013 Major League season.
