New York Mets’ Jose Reyes all set to return – MLB News
The New York Mets are finally set to see their best shortstop rolling soon. After having remained confined to disabled-list for over 15 days now, Jose Reyes is expected to join the team within five days as was officially stated.
Remaining a victim to strained left hamstring in the start of the season and having got injured again a couple of weeks back, Jose Reyes has been playing rehab games to make it to the team sooner than later.
The team manager seems fairly satisfied with the news of his coming back now. "I know it wasn’t as bad as the first one," Collins said. "He said he’s been feeling good and he’s ready to go. He said I’m ready to get back on the field, which is a good sign."
Expected to run for the New York Mets’ trainers on Friday, August 19 provided everything goes well with the Dominican shortstop, Jose Reyes will be able to join the team by Tuesday, August 23. With excitement at its peak, Reyes will further buoy the fans
and the team with his return.
"Things are going great," Collins said. "He’s anxious … to get back, but he’s been swinging; he’s been hitting; he’s been catching ground balls and throwing, doing some lateral exercises, doing some things.”
It is worthwhile to remember that Jose Reyes was put on disabled-list on August 8 because of a hamstring problem that he has. The period was particularly disturbing for the New York Mets because infielder Daniel Murphy had also gotten a knee injury that
will put him out of the season.
Also, importantly, Reyes fitness problem resulted in the team’s loss to the Atlanta Braves by 6-5, accentuating the fact that his presence was necessary as he will put the team on track more often than not.
The last injury that Reyes had in July proved utterly unpromising for him and the team combined. He was unable to play more than 12 games. Nonetheless, the injury Reyes got on August 8, in his own words, was not as bad as the one that he had undergone in
July.
Nonetheless, the injury problem that continues to plague Jose Reyes is proving to be quite an inconvenience not for him but also for the team. For him because it affects his stats and breaks his momentum.
By the time he recuperates and gets back his form, Reyes will require quite some time. That is something that he wants to avoid in the future. As Friday’s practice that he will have, the team management expects he will be able to play with full force.
