New York Mets’ R.A. Dickey feeling okay after surgery - MLB Update
As R.A. Dickey underwent surgery in Philadelphia the other day, he has stated that he is not harmed by the impact of it. Furthermore, he is all set to return to baseball activities. As per the reports, he will participate in Spring Training and will be ready
for another full season.
Dickey is expected to get contract extension from the Mets in the offseason. His amazing performance in the season has impressed the Mets’ team officials immensely. More probably, it is going to result into a renewal of his contract.
The existing contract of Dickey does not ensure him the amount of per year salary that reflects his consistent shows in the recently concluded regular season. In light of this, he will be looking forward to an expensive deal being offered to him in the offseason.
Due to the surgery, Dickey may be concerned that the Mets doubt his credentials to throw effectively in the upcoming years.
The Mets may think of his surgery as the beginning of Dickey’s decline and present him a deal which is not in accord with starting pitcher's expectations.
The confirmation from his doctor that the surgery has been completed successfully will be encouraging for Dickey as well as for the Mets. It may eliminate the reservations of the Mets’ officials.
Dickey revealed by tweeting that he is feeling okay after the surgery and will not take a long time period to return to the mound.
"Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers etc." Dickey said. "I'm back from Philly unscathed. That is except for a 2 inch incision in my lower ab. Surgery went well."
Dickey is among the strong candidates for winning the Cy Young Award this year. He along with Washington Nationals’ Gio Gonzalez is ideally poised to claim this enviable distinction.
In the absence of the Mets’ ace Johan Santana, Dickey led his team to wins in the regular season. Besides, he helped the Mets escape losing streaks in a number of occasions and stay on course.
Dickey will be excited to replicate his incredible performances in the upcoming season and become spearhead of the New York’s pitching staff.
It will be interesting to see how he prepares for this objective in Spring Training.
