New York Mets’ Ruben Tejada’s stay on Disabled List prolongs - MLB Update
The New York Mets’ shortstop Ruben Tejada will resume drills in Port St. Lucie, as he rehabilitates from strained right quadriceps which had put him on Disabled List. He is being missed by the Mets at shortstop, as the manager Terry Collins stated. His replacement,
Omar Quintanilla, though, is not bad but the kind of offensive artillery Tejada possesses makes him an ideal option for the club.
Even after spending great number of days on the Disabled List, nothing can be said with certainty as to when Tejada will return. Starting running and giving the body a rigorous exercise by Tejada, it is a great sign for the club. It can initiate his fast-tracked
return to the season from now onward.
Right now, Tejada will not be taking to the field and instead will just be focusing on getting the body pumped up.
If he jumps into the field right away by being encouraged from the flimsy notions of fitness, he may end up re-igniting the injury and thus may cause further delay in his comeback.
Collins understands the cost the Mets have borne with his absence. In-particular, regarding his role as a hitter, the manager expressed a serious need for having him in the line-up.
The fact the club have slowed down in terms of drawing better run-support from the offence, over the last few weeks, his absence will now be felt more resoundingly.
“We miss [Tejada] a lot,” Collins said. “Omar has come up and done a good job, Ronny did a good job, we have caught the ball, but Ruben is an offensive force, and right now it’s obvious we’re missing that.”
By the time Tejada had suffered from the injury, it was being maintained that he will not take many days for coming back. Immediate opinions about his right quadriceps proved just illusory as he remains out for unimaginable number of days, due to the same
injury.
Just recently, Jason Bay joined the line-up and in-turn strengthened wobbling offence of the Mets.
Once Tejada also makes the line-up, an ideal combination will be struck and that will steady the Mets’ expedition for 2012 regular season.
