New York Mets’ Terry Collins optimistic about 2013 season - MLB Update
Even as the season has not ended well for New York Mets, their manager Terry Collins points out positive developments taking place during the year and how they can help them improve.
As far as the 2013 season is concerned, Collins is extremely hopeful that his players will not disappoint again. He takes heart from the fact that late in 2012 season some of their players stepped up on a regular basis and became reliable campaigners for
the side.
He is of the view that some of the players that struggled in the beginning improved sharply as the season progressed. In light of this, if they keep their journey toward reaching top-notch form afloat, they can end up becoming the greatest link in the success
of the Mets.
The players like Ike Davis and Daniel Murphy are set to unleash their potential in the years to come. The issues that they suffered initially to get going have now been overcome by them.
For the next season, they are going to be the most reliable players in the Mets' offence department.
Collins’ optimism basically stems from emerging players in the team and the credentials that they have shown in the matches.
If the Mets can manage to retain their All-Star third baseman David Wright and R.A. Dickey by offering them contract extensions, their chances for clinching something substantial in the upcoming season will increase manifold.
Dickey and Wright along with the emergence of new stars in the team can make the Mets a formidable unit.
Collins calls upon the need to show patience because whenever his players maintained such an attitude in the games in the season they were successful.
"There’s a lot of positives you can take out of this," Collins said. "Yeah, we’ve got to get it done. As we’ve seen, if we stay the course and don’t panic and have some patience, this will come together."
Furthermore, Collins mentions promising pitching prospects in the Minor League to substantiate his optimism.
"You look at the young players that are here," Collins said. "You can grow with that. You can grow with the pitching staff that’s coming. You’ve got to like what you’re looking at."
Collins will be hoping that players learn from the mistakes in the current season and help the team make up for the dismal year by unleashing consistent performances from now onward.
