New York Mets bullpen confident for next season’s trial – MLB Update
The New York Mets are ready to face the new challenges ahead in the 2013 Major League Baseball season. They were not good defensively in the last Major League outing but as the season ended, they established a new strategy and hoped for a new beginning.
The Mets have also added some new faces in the roster but still their front office want something extra from bullpen. They know as last season was tough for the pitchers especially for the relievers but this offseason, the Mets are pushing hard to build
a strong bullpen who will help the franchise sustain at top.
News is also coming in the media that Mets’ closer Frank Francisco is getting better and better. He was injured recently but recovering with a good pace and hopeful will come play in this Spring Training.
In the Last Major League competition, he performed with great pace and saved 23 games for the Mets. Not only he saved several high pressure games, but he also achieved consistent results throughout the season.
Francisco finished the season with 5.53 ERA along with 23 saves, 47 strikeouts and 1.61 WHIP. Overall his career stats are also consistent at 3.92 ERA along with 72 saves, 415 strikeouts and 1.33 WHIP.
Along with good relief pitchers, the Mets have also good and reliable starting pitchers. Though the Mets have traded starter R.A. Dickey to the Toronto Blue Jays but still their entire roster is confident for another challenging season.
“(It’s) maybe the greatest gift an athlete can get, I was going to take out an advertisement to express these thank yous, but decided in the end that there was too much I wanted to say. So I am writing this instead,” Dickey wrote to his New York fans.
He added, “The trade was hard for me at first, (New York) is where my heart was, where I wanted to be, where I lived out a story of redemption and felt that every one of you shared it with me in some form or fashion. I loved pitching for you.”
The next few weeks will be critical as New York Mets prepare to face new season’s challenges with their strong bullpen.
