New York Mets defeat Los Angeles Dodgers 7-3 – MLB Recap
The New York Mets once again showed a brilliant performance on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers and proved that they are going to dominate the season.
Mets played exceptionally well and won with huge margin 7-3 on April 24 in the second game of their three-match series at Citi Field in New York City.
“Coming back and winning a game like that, that's huge for us as we move forward, He gets pumped up for that stuff, He just relishes that big moment during the game." Team manager Terry Collins said.
Mets’ hitters played well against the entire Dodgers’ pitching line-up. Catcher John Buck scored one run on one hit on five at bats. He showed good consistency with the bat and maintained his slugging percentage of .600.
Left fielder Lucas Duda scored one run on two hits while he also maintained his slugging percentage at .627. Mets pinch hitter and centre fielder Jordany Valdespin scored one run ran for four RBIs on his .429 slugging percentage.
Along with hitters, the Mets’ pitchers also showed their class and never allowed Dodgers to play freely during the entire game.
Starter Matt Harvey pitched six innings and received only three runs and four hits. He struck out seven on his exceptional steady 1.54 ERA.
“I told him they're going to walk Duda and you're going to win this game, He was sitting there nice and loose, then he walked up there and delivered," the pitcher said.
On the other hand, the Dodgers pitchers could not do much and lost the game. Only starter Ted Lilly played well for his team but alone he could not stop the Mets hammering.
"First time out, pretty good. Yeah, really good. I thought he was sharp, That's what Teddy does right there," Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly said.
Lilly started the game for the Dodgers and pitched a five innings spell. He received only one run and struck out seven on 1.80 ERA.
Closer Josh Wall pitched 0.1 innings but in his short spell, he received four runs and two hits while his ERA rose to 15.75. The Mets will be happy with their performance against the Dodgers as they managed to dominate the game.
