New York Mets fall to Los Angeles Dodgers 3-8 as Ramon Ramirez leaks runs - MLB Update

A relatively great performance throughout the game by the Mets was ruined by the relief pitcher, Ramirez. Until the end of the ninth, Mets had managed to tie the score.
In turn, they had kept likelihood of keeping the game alive. They fought hard in their way up to the 12th inning.
Though their starter Jonathon Niese allowed three runs, but he did not give any impression that the Mets will be routed so brutally late in the game.
Seven innings he threw were excellent in the sense that he maintained consistency in keeping the batters at bay and never allowing them to produce a run-rampage.
Mets’ manager Terry Collins will be having some serious work to do with the bullpen. Destroying the whole effort of a starting pitcher in such a short period of time is a worst case scenario for a club to witness from their reliever.
Meanwhile, New York produced 16 hits on Sunday, which means that offensively their hitters put up a terrific performance.
While hits were rife on Sunday from New York, the base-runners failed to draw a victory out of them.
Mets’ third-baseman David Wright believes that despite the losing streaks they have suffered since the beginning of the second half, their performance has not been below par. He is of the view that the players have put up best possible shows in their respective
areas of expertise.
"I don't think we're playing as poorly as the record indicates," Wright said, "but this is when we need to get things turned around and moving in the direction we need it to."
New York manager Collins cannot afford to watch pitchers giving in so cheaply under the pressure cooker situations.
As they head to their next series, Collins will be making sure that relievers develop proper strategy once they come across the same situation again in the upcoming games.
