New York Mets flatten Atlanta Braves 6-1 – MLB Update
New York Mets flattened Atlanta Braves 6-1 at the Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday, April 16 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
Mets’ domination over Atlanta is a clear indication of the danger they pose to other teams in Major League Baseball. Their brilliant performance on Monday evening has also sent an early message to their rivals in National League East.
The Mets had a horrible time a couple of years ago when they finished last in MLB. Surely, this is not the same team that looked clueless at times. Ike Davis will be proud of himself after he hit a tie breaking three run home run. The striker will be looking
to make the most of available opportunities this year to improve his batting average.
Dillon Gee also made a valuable contribution, pitching four hit seven innings to help the Mets establish complete control over the contest. The Braves, who were on a five match winning streak, will be disappointed with the result as New York kept up their
early dominance.
"I don't think this is just a nice little start for that team," Braves second baseman Dan Uggla said. "They're a good, solid ballclub. All the attention was on the Phillies and us and Miami and Washington. But I've been telling people not to count out this
Mets team."
"He's thrown (the curve) every at-bat, every pitch, every time I've faced him," Davis said. "Obviously, they think I'm a fastball hitter."
David Wright also went 2 for 2 off Tommy Hanson. The first baseman, who was walked in the sixth inning, will be eager to shut his critics this season.
The Mets have certainly made themselves proud with the way they have conducted themselves since the start of 2012 regular season. Although they had a difficult time during Spring Training Session, they have salvaged some of the lost pride with some fantastic
performances over the last couple of weeks.
With their win over the Braves at Turner Field, the Mets have now improved their win-loss record to 7-3. They will now be eager to continue their impressive run throughout the season to make it to the playoffs.
