New York Mets officials angry with R.A Dickey for expressing grievances publicly-MLB Update
According to some officials, the team management of New York Mets has taken a bad impression of R.A Dickey’s public statement against the club.
The other day, Dickey expressed his grievances over the way contract extension talks were underway and denounced the team for mishandling the whole process.
The person with knowledge of the information stated the club is more concerned, because Dickey used the Citi Field platform to speak out against the team.
It is worth noticing now as to how the negotiations will be affected due to the recent comments by Dickey.
It may be the case that the Mets take huge offence of his words and halt talks. They may start focusing entirely on trading him to some other team after this incident.
Nothing can be said with certainty until official declaration comes off from the Mets.
Until then, it can be believed that the Mets are seriously considering retention of Dickey. It can also be speculated the Mets will somehow agree to what Dickey asked for and complete the deal at the earliest.
The expression of complaints by Dickey can turn out to be beneficial for him in some ways.
For example, the club may feel called upon to do something urgently as Dickey threatened to not negotiate during the next season.
Dickey made it clear, he will almost certainly test free agency in case the on-going offseason does not see his contract extension by the Mets.
Dickey has come to a point now if talks fail, he will be extremely disappointed. For him, the way the negotiations have been prolonged by the Mets is an undesirable scenario.
“Things are emotional for me,” Dickey said. “When people say it’s business, it’s not personal, that just means it’s not personal for them. It can be personal for me. I’m hoping that it’s going to end up in a good place, but you can’t help but in the back
of your mind think it may not, and that’s sad.”
Dickey will be hoping that the Mets unveil their decision about him at the earliest so that he can evaluate other options and secure his future.
