New York Mets’ pitcher Johan Santana throws two simulated innings during practice – MLB Update
The New York Mets’ starting pitcher Johan Santana, who missed the entire 2012 Major League Baseball season, is now expecting a potential return on Opening Day in few months’ time as his shoulder surgery after effects are slowly fading away.
His hard work in this year’s Spring Training at Arizona training field is looking great. Sources have reported in the local media as Santana is doing well with the ball and pitching in great flair and whenever the next season starts, he will be doing a good job with his fast throwing.
After he pitched two simulated innings on late Monday evening during a practice session, Santana told the media as how he is feeling now and with what game approach he will be going into a new season.
Santana said, “Today was a good day. I’m not trying to back off from anything. I’m doing everything just the same way I would do it if I didn’t have surgery on my arm. I missed a few [pitches], but I’ve got to make adjustments and I’m pretty sure my next time will be better. I missed a few [pitches], but I’ve got to make adjustments and I’m pretty sure my next time will be better.”
Later, the team manager Terry Collins said for Santana, “There’s that continued fluidity and it didn’t look like he was getting fatigued. His command with those hitters in the batter’s box was even better.”
Santana was injured in 2010 and missed the whole 2011 season due to his shoulder surgery. Though, after his surgery, reports did come out in the media that Santana will be coming back on the field late in the regular season. However, a majority of the Mets’ doctors, for precautionary measures, did not take this initiative and kept his game for the next season.
A highly experienced Major League individual, Santana certainly possesses some huge skills which have always given confidence to the Mets organisation over the past couple of years. Santana came out in the Mets’ roster in 2008 and since then has been playing wonderfully well. Basically, he played not much with the Mets’ so far as his injury cost him a whole last season, but lately since he has been recovering fast, the chances are high as he will be a winning factor next season.
