New York Mets’ third-baseman David Wright looks sharp during batting practice – MLB News
The New York Mets’ star third baseman David Wright is trying his best to make a potential comeback in this year’s Major League Baseball Spring Training after hurting his abdominal muscles last week.
Wright, for the first time in whole week, looks good during a practice session with the team in Arizona’s Cactus League. His batting practice showed right kind of sharpness when he gave some hard time to his teammate pitchers.
Later Wright also came out in the media and spoke with confidence. Said Wright: "I've been in the cage for a little bit of time now. Today was the next step in going on the field, because it's a little more energy. You exert a little more. I felt good and
am headed in the right direction now. I did a full day with the guys. I need to probably do that for a few more days.”
He added, “At least in my eyes, this was kind of like the first day for me of spring training of going through everything from stretch to the conditioning. I feel about as good as I'd feel, I guess.”

Wright is a good all-round player and considered one of the most prolific role players in the League. He also knows his responsibility and plays accordingly. Last week, when he was injured, the Mets’ top management was suddenly went curious until the medical
reports of Wright came and gave them little sigh of relief.
The management was worried as if Wright’s this particular abdominal strain prolonged then what will be the outcome of their next season’s results. Now watching him practicing hard in the training sessions, the Mets entire management is very happy and hoping
his return will give further stability to the franchise.
The Mets’ on the other hand, also need right kind of thrust to achieve good results in the coming season. Since last season, the Mets are performing poorly and showing no improvement in their play. To gain a good position and some consistent winning performances,
they need a strengthen unit that can produce results even with certain players’ absence.
