New York Rangers' goalie Henrik Lundqvist concerned about self, not offence -NHL Playoffs Update
Being a veteran goalie and one of the best to have ever graced the sport of hockey, most might think that Henrik Lundqvist of New York Rangers might have a knack for giving teammates advice on how to do better on other areas of the ice.
Coming out on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, Henrik Lundqvist revealed in an interview with Dan Rosen of NHL.com that he is only concerned about the way he plays and not about how others, especially the offence is performing.
To many, it might sound like Henrik Lundqvist is a self-centred guy, which looks pretty selfish, but in reality, he is just focused on constantly improving himself and not putting his nose into areas where it does not belong.
"Honestly, it's not a concern for me at all how many goals we score," Lundqvist said after a practice Tuesday at Madison Square Garden. "I just try to focus on my game."
Approaching the game with a specific mindset is the only way to go for Lundqvist because according to him, focusing on other aspects will just create further confusion. He obviously wants his team to perform exceptionally on the opposing end, but the net
is where his mind is all the time.
"You want to try to get a balance there, where you don't get too high or too low between games or during the game," Lundqvist added. "You have to approach it the same way so you can keep making good decisions there. Of course you feel the pressure, but you
don't want to put too much pressure on yourself. You want to see it as a great challenge and a great opportunity instead of a lot of pressure."
Rangers’ captain, Ryan Callahan, is the man that has to work on his offensive squad playing to the best of their abilities and come Game 5 against New Jersey Devils and veteran goalie, Martin Brodeur, the offence is bound to step up.
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Madison Square Garden in New York, which is bound to give the Rangers the ability to capitalise on playing at home.
