New York Rangers' goalie Henrik Lundqvist excited for next season -NHL offseason Update
It has not been long since the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs came to an end, but New York Rangers’ veteran goalie and Vezina Trophy finalist, Henrik Lundqvist, is already excited and eager for the next regular season to kick off.
Lundqvist was the driving force for New York as the Rangers made it to the Eastern Conference Finals but were ousted by the New Jersey Devils in six games. It was an intense battle between him and Devils’ goalie, Martin Brodeur, but only one could come out
as the winner.
New York ended the 2011-2012 NHL regular season as the top Eastern Conference team with 109 points and making the finals was something that has risen everyone’s expectations from the Rangers team.
"I just like the feeling to expect, to expect more out of everybody on the team," Lundqvist said. "When I got here some years ago I think a lot of people were hoping and were not really sure, but with this year, I hope we continue building, and that's to
expect more out of everybody, to want to be a top team. To be that you have to push yourself hard, because it's not just going to happen.”
"Everybody had a fun year, but we need to come back and try to be even better because we came up short," he added.
Being just two victories away from an appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals, Henrik Lundqvist is having trouble sleeping at night due to thinking about what they just might achieve next season. It is certainly a peak time for one of the best goalies in the
league and Henrik Lundqvist does not want to wait any longer.
The Swedish goalie played in all 20 postseason games for New York and put up a .931 save percentage along with an even better 1.82 goals-against average.
Seven seasons with New York have definitely been rewarding for the goalie as he has had the chance to lead them every time to victory.
With plenty of time for the next season to start, Henrik Lundqvist will just have to wait and see how things play out before he gets another shot at the Stanley Cup.
