New York Rangers Marian Gaborik making progress, skates with team -NHL Update
Fortunately for the New York Rangers, Marian Gaborik is making significant progress and skated for the first time with his teammates on Tuesday after going out with a major shoulder injury that required surgery over the offseason.
He was playing with the ailment throughout the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs and due to the adrenaline rush, just never got the chance to look into it, until after they were knocked out of contention, which is when he really began
to feel the pain.
Hopefully now, the leading forward will get back into shape to continue playing as one of the best in the league, that is if a lockout is averted and the 2012-2013 NHL regular season starts as scheduled.
"I can play with the puck and shoot some muffins," Gaborik told Blueshirts United on the Rangers' website. "Everything has gone as planned, so I am very happy with the progress.
"I can feel the difference now and I can feel that it's getting better, so that's the most important thing," Gaborik added.
The best thing for Gaborik now is to see how he is improving and set a timeframe for himself to get better, something which he seems to be already doing.
"I am trying to build up my conditioning, and am trying to keep strengthening my shoulder, that's the biggest part to get power and strength back," Gaborik stated. "It is progressing as planned, so I am happy."
Gaborik was drafted as the third overall back in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by Minnesota Wild and has become a crucial part of the New York Rangers club for sure. Last season was testimony to the fact that the Slovakia native is getting back in form by scoring
76 points (41 goals, 35 assists) in all 82 games played.
He is set to enter his fourth straight season with the New York Rangers after he signed on during the 2009 offseason, ending a four year run with his original draft team, the Minnesota Wild.
It will be exciting to see how Gaborik progresses during the offseason and whether or not it will affect him in the longer run.
