New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather struggling with team's loss -NHL Update
Being the top seeded team in the Eastern Conference, New York Rangers President and General Manager, Glen Sather, is still baffled as to why and how his team did not win the Stanley Cup this year, let alone get into the finals after facing elimination by
New Jersey Devils.
Sather, one of the most well known figures in the world of hockey has been having a tough time nowadays dealing with the fact that his team is not one of those currently playing for the Stanley Cup.
He was talking to the media after the general manager’s meeting in New York on Wednesday before the Stanley Cup Finals opening game between Los Angeles Kings and New Jersey Devils.
"We just got knocked out a couple of days ago," said Sather. "It's tough enough to go to bed at night and get up the next morning. You've got to adjust. It's like having a death in the family."
Now that it is all done and over with, there is a lot that Sather will have to take care of now in order to eliminate the weaknesses in his team that restricted them from going all the way. One thing which he will need to fix right away is boosting the offensive
line-up, which John Tortorella had been complaining about.
Every team is always looking for that perfect balance, but it is not always that easy to achieve, something that Sather definitely realises.
"I would like to have a 60-goal scorer, I'd like to have a defenseman that could play 25 minutes and get 25 goals, I'd like to have a goaltender that could be under one goal-against per game," Sather said. "Those are wish lists that every team in this league
would like to have. Realistically, there are some people that are going to be available, but they're not available until July 1."
Glen Sather knows that he certainly has one of the best clubs in the NHL and if he continues to work on them like he did the season before, Rangers can be back to their winning ways in no time.
