New York Rangers Rick Nash on a day-to-day basis with injury in Switzerland -NHL Update
The New York Rangers can breathe much easier now after they learnt that one of their leading forwards that was acquired after such a tough battle during the offseason, is not seriously injured after a temporary scare recently.
Rick Nash, former Columbus Blue Jackets captain, attained a shoulder injury during a match with the HC Davos in Switzerland’s hockey league. The veteran forward is abroad due to the prevailing lockout situation in North America and may be able to come back
once it clears up.
The previous scare came after sources came out to say that Rick Nash has acquired a shoulder injury, but fortunately, after extensive look-into by medical staff and an MRI exam, it was only termed to be a bone bruise and no extensive damage.
Now, the forward has been put on a day-to-day basis just to make sure and keep him out from attaining any further injury to the spot.
"Rick was taken out for precautionary reasons," Nash's agent, Joe Resnick, told ESPN.com. "He'll be re-evaluated over the next few days by the team (Davos), and we'll see the extent of the injury, if any."
It was during the 2004-2005 National Hockey League (NHL) lockout that Nash and fellow star of the San Jose Sharks, played for the HC Davos, and are there back again this time around.
The 28-year-old native of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, was highly looking forward to a season with his new team, the New York Rangers. After nearly a decade of failure to reach the playoffs with his original draft team, the Columbus Blue Jackets, Rick Nash
was fed up and wanted to move elsewhere, citing it to be beneficial for both sides.
Nash, with the Columbus Blue Jackets, has played 674 games in total with 547 points, 289 goals and 258 assists to his name, while his 568 minutes of penalty time certainly point out his physicality level as a player.
He managed to reach the playoffs just once in his career, which was also short lived as they were eliminated in a four game sweep in 2009.
Next season will certainly be exciting for Rick Nash fans.
