New York Rangers Sean Avery has case dropped against, off the hook –NHL News Update
National Hockey League (NHL) bad boy and New York Rangers veteran left winger, Sean Avery, landed in trouble earlier this August when police officers responded to a complaint about loud music coming from his house, on answering the door, Avery pushed an
officer and was taken to jail immediately.
It was a back-to-back negotiation process since then and after hiring well know celebrity lawyer, Blair Berk, and posting $20,000 in bail along with spending a night in jail, Avery has been finally let off the hook as the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)
decided to drop the case against the hockey player on Friday, August 19, nearly two weeks after the incident took place.
At first, Avery was reportedly challenging the police officers to a fight along with calling them, “fat little pigs”, but it was also leant that following his arrest after backup had been called in, he began cooperating with law enforcement and eventually
worked out a deal to avoid a misdemeanour charge which could have put him in prison for a year and/or a $2000 fine.
"No criminal charges of any kind will be filed against Sean Avery stemming from his Aug. 5 arrest for battery on a police officer", sources from .TMZ.com confirmed.
With his unimpressive performance last season, it will not be surprising that New York keep Avery on the down low next season, if they keep him at all that is. It is quite a possibility, after having created such a scene, Avery could also be let go by his
team of three seasons, but these are still rumors and nothing can be said for sure.
Picked up from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Kingston Frontenacs franchise, the North York, Ontario, Canada native, has certainly seen better days in the major league, but throughout his nine year career, has not seen the outstanding performance he was
destined for by so many people.
Sean Avery remained mostly part of controversies revolving around his life, making him one of those types of players who live a life more in the limelight than other teammates. Next season will be interesting to see as to where Rangers place Avery on their
line-up.
