New York Rangers agree on terms with Phoenix Coyotes to bring in Oscar Lindberg
This past Sunday, the New York Rangers got hold of centre player, Oscar Lindberg. The Rangers got on terms with the Phoenix Coyotes and part of the trade saw the Rangers sending Ethan Werek to Coyotes while Lindberg was brought to the Rangers.
Lindberg was playing in the Swedish Elite League where he came up with some decent performances. He has played 41 games during the past season during which, he scored five goals and bagged a total of nine assists.
The 19-year old is fortunate enough to have had play-off experience during which, he has been part of 18 play-offs contests and has been on ice in 14. He currently maintains a record of 3-4-7 when it comes to the play-offs.
Linderberg has international experience, where he appeared in six games as part of the Swedish team in the World Junior Championships. He came up with a decent performance during the championships that saw him score two goals and bagging two assists. He scored the winning goal in the game against Canada that ended 6-5 after a shootout.
Lindberg is 6 feet tall and weighs 190 pounds and has played 77 games for his club, Skelleftea thus far. Out of as many games that he has played, he has scored six goals, 10 assists and bagged 66 penalty minutes.
The career of this player also includes his time with the junior Skelleftea team where he managed to pile up 36 goals and 46 assists scoring a total of 82 points in 78 games. He has been on the end of recording the best face off during the season on several occasions with 63.4 in 2009, 60.4 in 2010 and 69.6 in 2011.
Lindberg was drafted by the Coyotes as a 57th overall second round draft pick in 2010. On the other hand, Werek has been brilliant as well, as he played with the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL to score a total of 24 goals, 28 assists, and bagged 51 penalty minutes. He was drafted by the New York Rangers in 2010 as the 47th overall pick in the second round.
