New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers paid a visit by Shane Doan
Shane Doan, a Canadian ice hockey professional and a top-six forward in NHL, has recently visited New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers, two teams that are interested in him and that he is interested in. New York Rangers were visited by him on Friday
and he visited Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, to check the situation and his options.
A meeting which was described as “Shane Doan was just checking his option” was reported by Philly.com (a website which inquires and reports about the NHL team) as, both sides have mutual interests.
Whereas, while talking to CNSPhilly.com (Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia), agent of Shane Doan, Terry Brass, called Philadelphia Flyers a “first class organisation” but still cleared that Shan Doan would like to remain in Phoenix Coyotes if possible. Brass
said,
"Shane very much enjoyed the visit. We are still waiting to see if ownership gets resolved in (Arizona) but wanted to visit".
Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers are not the only teams that are hopeful that Shane Doan would play for them but there are also some other contenders like Detroit Red Wings, Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins.
While Shane Doan was on a visit to New York Rangers on Friday, he also spoke to the reporters and appreciated the fact that teams are being so patient in his case even though the pace with which market moves is too much. He also told that he would make a
decision without all the information as he said,
“Teams have been great about being patient with me, and I appreciate it so much, because I know the fluidity of the market (and) the way that it moves. The teams have been so kind to my family and understanding the situation we're in. That being said, eventually,
I have to make a decision, and it'll have to probably be without all the information."
It would be interesting to see if Philadelphia Flyers can land him and Shea Weber as well or if Shane Doan will stay at the place where he has stayed for last 16 years, Phoenix Coyotes.
Twice gold medallist and thrice silver medallist with Canadian international ice hockey team, Shane Doan has represented Phoenix in more than 1000 games, scoring 318 goals, 470 assists and 788 points.
