New York Rangers annihilate the Philadelphia Flyers 7-0 – NHL Recap
The New York Rangers thrashed the Philadelphia Flyers 7-0 at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. The winner of the game would score crucial points, as the Flyers are looking to finish on top of the National Hockey League Conference standings and the Rangers
were looking to finish strong before the start of the play-offs.
The Rangers started superbly, as they scored in the first minute to get into the lead. They scored twice in the each of the first periods to go ahead by four goals. In the last period they scored thrice to win the game 7-0 in the end. The game saw the Rangers
coming up with a decent defence, which restricted the opposition to nothing. In the end, the Rangers won the game 7-0 with Ryan Callahan named the Star of the Game, as he scored four goals and came up with an assist.
The Rangers started the game in spectacular fashion, scoring in their first play of the game. The goal was scored by Ryan Callahan from a simple tip-in shot. The Flyers responded to this with a few attacks, but they were unable to find the back of the net.
Things heated up as the period moved on, as the Rangers starting to create a lot of chances. They managed to double their lead with another goal in the 13th minute. The goal was scored by Callahan once again, this time during the power-play from
a well placed flick-shot.
The Flyers notched up a few more shots on goal, but they were not successful in finding the back of the net. The period ended with the Rangers leading 2-0 as they made 14 shots on goal and the Flyers managing 7 attempts.
The second period saw the Rangers making a quick start once again as they fired shots on goal from everywhere on the ice. The Rangers scored in the sixth minute through Mats Zuccarello from a decent strike. The Flyers tried to score immediately, but the
involvement of all the men in the attack resulted in the team getting caught in a counter-attack.
The Rangers used this opportunity and scored once again in the seventh minute through Callahan who completed his hat-trick. After the goal, the Flyers came up with a couple of shots, but they were unable to find the back of the net. The period ended with
no further goals as the Rangers led 4-0 with both teams making 10 goal attempts each during the period.
The final period was no different, as the Rangers scored once again in the fifth minute during the power-play with Callahan scoring his fourth goal from a simple tip-in shot. The Rangers scored two more goals in the 15th and 19th minutes
to complete the dominating performance. The goals were scored by Artem Anisimov and Mats Zuccarello respectively.
The period and the game ended with the Rangers winning the game 7-0. During the period they made 12 goal attempts, as the Flyers could manage only 7 shots on goal.
