New York Rangers charged for Game 5 against Ottawa Senators -NHL Playoffs Preview
Taking the match into overtime might be the best way for Ottawa Senators to take a lead against New York Rangers in Game 5 of the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, but doing so would definitely not be
easy.
New York goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, is known for his losing ways when a playoff game heads into overtime as he holds the most losses in the postseason, with seven straight post-regulation give ups in the past five years of playing.
Getting to that mark would certainly not be a piece of cake for Ottawa as Rangers would most likely be looking forward to dominate the matchup right from the beginning.
"We're not creating too much offense five-on-five, so maybe try to get a spark," New York captain, Ryan Callahan, said. "We're all playing the same system so no matter who you're playing with, nothing changes. We're comfortable playing with anybody, (so)
it doesn't make a difference to us."
Unfortunately for Ottawa, they will still not be playing with captain, Daniel Alfredsson, who is feeling concussion related symptoms due to an elbow to the head by Rangers’ Carl Hagelin, in game 2. Senators announced through Twitter that the captain will
not be travelling with the club.
It has been reported that Ottawa has decided to use prospect, Mark Stone, and will be participating in New York.
New York is hoping that Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik will step up and put up some numbers as they have only two assists in total from Game 1 and nothing more to show since.
"Your best players have to be at their best, especially this time of year. You need them," Callahan added. "You're going to have other guys step up and score some big goals like Boyle has, and Stralman has two. For us to win the series, we definitely have
to our top guys going."
Game 5 of the New York-Ottawa series is set to kick off on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Madison Square Garden at 7:00 PM ET.
Prediction:
New York Rangers take the win with a two or more goal differential against Ottawa Senators.
