New York Rangers fill offensive gap with Rick Nash-Columbus Blue Jackets trade -NHL Update
Believing that the New York Rangers had been suffering from a lack of offence might not be that easy to believe but looking at how they went all out to grab Columbus Blue Jackets’ captain, Rick Nash, offensive power might have been something they had been
looking for this whole time.
Rangers were in the spotlight last season as well as they acquired top centre player of Dallas Stars and most coveted free agent of the year, Brad Richards, but it still did not answer their questions at the winger position.
New York Rangers are counting on Chris Kreider to emerge as one of the biggest names the National Hockey League (NHL) has seen in recent years, which is why Rick Nash will be playing the role of mentor as well.
At the left wing, there is 21-year-old Kreider, while Rick Nash has the right wing covered and Brad Richards in the centre.
It was believed that Columbus Blue Jackets were looking to get Chris Kreider for Rick Nash along with Brandon Dubinsky, but New York was not willing to give up their top prospect for anything at the moment, which would have also killed of the whole point
as well.
"It's a really good deal," Rangers coach, John Tortorella, told Michael Kay on ESPN Radio. "We're losing a couple good players here and a prospect. I'm very close to Dubi and Artie. They've been very good players for us. Erixon is a young player who has
potential. I still haven't seen it yet. But he has potential to be a really good player. But we're picking up a guy, and you have to give up something to get something, and I think we have a legitimate, really top power forward in the League coming our way
with this deal."
New York Rangers now have the right wing totally covered as Marian Gaborik and Rick Nash will be taking charge between each other, making the top Eastern Conference team of last season, even better.
Nash should be of exceptional value for New York Rangers, which is why next season just keeps on getting better and better to anticipate.
