New York Rangers more confident than ever before following shutout victory over Boston Bruins-NHL

New York showed the world that they were not ranked the number team in the National Hockey League (NHL) Eastern Conference without a reason after Rangers shutout and embarrassed the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Boston Bruins, 3-0, on Tuesday night,
February 14, 2012.
Rangers currently stand at number one in the East with 79 points, well ahead of the second place Boston Bruins, who have 70, but the question still remains is whether they will be able to take this momentum into the playoffs?
After a huge victory against Boston, the Rangers believe they can and will be much better in the future as confidence surges in their veins.
"I wouldn't pay for the start of that game," said Rangers’ coach, John Tortorella, said about the matchup against Boston. "I thought we played better in the second half of the first period, but then on, we end up with a 2-0 lead, but I don't think we mounted
much from there. I thought we defended really well, but that's all we did."
Their veteran goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, has shown great capability of leading the team in times of distress, especially when it comes to blocking a huge number of shots as he shutout Boston by blocking all 42 of their attempts, a feat he achieved the second
time this season.
For many, Lundqvist is becoming that factor that Tim Thomas was last season for Bruins as he practically led the team through with his amazing goaltending abilities. New York will definitely be counting on their goalie and for now, can only hope he will
be ready when the time comes.
While New York is certainly having one of their best seasons in comparison with the past few, Rangers know they need to continue improving and not get cocky.
"For us, it's good, but we have to continue to improve," New York Rangers’ captain, Ryan Callahan, said. "We have to continue to work on things."
As the playoffs get closer day-by-day, New York is focused on taking the top prize this time around as they continue dominating each and every team that comes in their way.
