New York Rangers plays host to Ottawa Senators in the fourth and final meeting between the two
One of the interesting games on Thursday is New York Rangers playing host to Ottawa Senators at the Madison Square Garden.
This is the fourth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the three games that have been played between the two teams, Senators won the first game by 3-1. Rangers managed to win the last two games, 5-3 and 4-1, respectively.
Rangers was up against Florida Panthers in its last game. Panthers is among those teams that are out of the playoffs.
These teams have played the role of spoilers very well and some of the top teams in the league have faced a lot of problems from these teams.
Senators is another one of the teams in the league that have come up with wins against the big guns in the league.
Senators has piled up some decent results lately that have seen it winning five of its last eight games.
Senators was on a good run as it has done during the late part of the season. It managed to win two games in a row after which it was up against Carolina Hurricanes in its most recent game.
Things were looking good for Senators, expected to end with the first lottery pick this time out.
Ottawa managed to establish a two-goal lead to its advantage but couldn’t capitalise from the start.
Hurricanes came up with a decent performance that saw it coming back and winning the game by 4-3 in the end.
Craig Anderson, goal keeper of Senators, wasn’t able to continue on the dominating performances that he has shown ever since he moved to Senators.
Senators will be looking to win the game and beat another one of the teams in the playoff's cut as it has recently done on quite a few occasions.
Rangers has played 74 games during the course of the season out of which it has won 40 games in regulation time and four games in overtime to score a total of 84 points.
On the other hand, Senators has played 73 games during the season so far out of which it has won 27 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime and has scored a total of 63 points.
Senators occupy the final position in the Eastern Conference while Rangers is at the seventh spot in the league.
Rangers came up with a hard fought contest in its last game against Florida Panthers. The game saw them both coming up with some decent plays but they failed to score any goals.
However, it was the Rangers who scored the lone goal of the game to win in the end.
"There are no bad teams in this League", Rangers' defenseman, Dan Girardi, said. "No game is an easy game. Ottawa has some young guys that are playing loose and playing well. We just have to take it one game at a time".
