New York Rangers right wing Marian Gaborik rues baffling slump in form-NHL News
It was Game 1 of the Eastern Conference playoff quarterfinals series in which New York Rangers’ right wing, Marian Gaborik, had scored a goal and since then he is waiting for coming of the second one.
Gaborik is ruefully through a phase of lull and the absence of form has proved to be too frustrating for the player and equally for the team.
The player who had attacked the oppositions’ nets throughout the regular season, consecutively and successfully, is facing dearth of opportunities in the playoffs.
It is rather annoying and surprising situation for the player, as he not been able to score for about nine games so far. His last goal came in the very first game of the playoff series against the Ottawa Senators.
The other significant achievement for the player came in the last game against the Washington Capitals in the ongoing Stanley Cup semi-finals series in which he recorded an assist.
He is with 5-on-5 record in the games he has played in the playoffs, which is quite in contrast to his impressive record of the regular season.
In 82 games of the regular season, he finished with 41 goals and 76 points. His per game shots at net average is 3.37 attempts. In total, he had 276 shots on the net.
Both, the player and his team, have noted the dismal form of the player but apparently are baffled about the reasons of the downfall.
It is too long a period for the players like him to be out of form and so far all his efforts for coming out of the subdued note have gone in vain.
The game analysts and commentators have also noted down the slump in performance of the player and have come out with theories of their own as explanation to his consistent failings.
Some of them believe that it is due to the change in the team’s top positions that has kept the player out of the high traffic area, resulting in fewer opportunities for him to launch his offensives on the oppositions’ net and score goals.
