New York Rangers wins 1-0 against Boston Bruins in a shutout at Bruins home ice
The first game of Saturday was played at the TD Garden as the New York Rangers won the game 1-0 against the Boston Bruins in what turned out to be a very close game.
The game was important for the Rangers as they needed the two points to keep their seventh position in the Eastern Conference while the Bruins were looking to win and move up the standings in the East.
The game began with the Rangers strong on the attacks at the start and they scored the only goal in the period to get into the lead.
Both teams came up with a couple of shots on goal but none of the shots found the back of the net and the period ended with the Rangers leading 1-0.
The second period saw both teams coming up with a few more shots on goal but they were unable to score any goals and the period ended goalless.
The third period also saw both teams coming up with decent shots on goal but no goals were scored. In the end, Rangers won the game 1-0 with goalie Henrik Lundqvist named the star of the game as he made 26 saves during the game.
Rangers was on top as the first period started and they came up with a couple strong chances.
There were several shots on goal by the away side but it took some time to near the goal.
As soon as they neared the goal, the Rangers scored in the seventh minute through Derek Stephan from a simple tip in shot to get into the lead.
Bruins was able to come up with a few strong plays and shots on goal but they were unsuccessful in finding the back of the net. The period ended with the Rangers leading 1-0 as they made 9 shots on goal while the Bruins made 8 shots on goal.
The second period saw the Bruins coming out strong on the attacks at the start that saw them creating quite a few scoring chances for themselves.
However, Rangers was able to take control of the game with the passage of time with some dominating passing and shooting.
Rangers had several chances to score and double their advantage but the opposing goal keeper was up to the mark and didn’t allow any goals.
The period ended with the Rangers still leading 1-0.
The final 20 minutes of play began with the Rangers making the first goal attempt after which they were on the back foot throughout the game.
Bruins piled up quite a few shots but they couldn’t score and the game ended with the Rangers winning the game 1-0 in the end. The final period saw the Bruins making 13 shots on goal while the Rangers made just one!
