New York Rangers wins 3-2 against San Jose Sharks after a shootout following a goalless overtime 
The final game of Saturday was hosted by San Jose Sharks at the HP Pavilion as they played host to New York Rangers.
The game was important for both teams as they looked to score crucial points to make a strong hold in the cut.
Rangers were in the final position in the cut while Sharks needed a win to keep pace with the top teams.
Both teams made a decent start to the game which saw them getting better and better with the passage of time.
Sharks took the lead in the first period but Rangers were able to score and level the scores.
The second period saw Rangers taking the lead but then Sharks scored to level the scores.
No goals were scored during the final period.
However, it was Rangers who won the game by 3-2 after a shootout.
Henrik Lundqvist, goalkeeper of Rangers, was the star of the game as he made 31 saves during the game.
Both the teams made a decent start to the game which saw them coming up with decent plays and passing. With the passage of time Sharks got better and better.
Rangers weren’t far behind as they too came up with some shots on goal.
However, it was Sharks who scored in the 13th minute through Ryane Clowe during power play to get into the lead. The goal was scored by a powerful strike.
The period moved on and Rangers came up with some strong plays which saw them scoring through Erik Christensen from a quick fired shot to level the scores.
The period saw both teams making a few more shots on goal but no further goals were scored and the scores were level on 1-1 at the end of the period. During the period, Sharks made 9 shots on goal while Rangers made 11 shots on goal.
The second period saw Rangers scoring in the second minute through Michael Sauer's well placed flick shot to get into the lead. Both teams continued to fire shots on goal but no goals were scored.
Sharks were able to level the scores as they scored in the 17th minute through Ben Eager's simple tip-in shot.
The period saw a few more shots on goal right at the end of the period but no further goals were scored as the period ended with the scores level on 2-2.
Sharks made 9 shots on goal while Rangers made 6 shots on goal during the period.
The final period saw Rangers making three shots on goal while Sharks made 12 shots on goal but there weren’t any goals.
The game went into overtime where no goals were scored. The game went into shootout where Rangers managed to score and win the game by 3-2.
