New York Red Bulls defeated Philadelphia Union 1-0 at their home ground, Red Bull Arena, on Thursday, October 20, to cement their position in the playoffs.
The RBNY got off to a roaring start this season, winning 7 of the first 9 games but their mid-season drop in form got them into a tight spot. Head coach Hans Backe had not expected at the start that his team will be fighting for the last playoffs spot.
