New York Yankees, Brian Cashman deal likely by Halloween – MLB News
Different news about the deal of the New York Yankees and Brian Cashman has been in baseball circles since the end of the 2011 season. These reports got a boost when Cashman and managing General Partner Hal Steinbrenner met on Monday in New York, but not
a single concrete assumption was to come.
Now, however, the club official has announced the expected period of the deal. According to officials, the Yankees and the Cashman may have their deal finalised by this Halloween.
The source made it clear by saying, "It will be done by Oct. 31."
Since the end of the 2011 season, there were rumours about the return of the Cashman into the club. However, not a single news source reported the official announcement of the expected date.
Cashman had a 6-million-dollar contract in 2008, when he advanced the club closer to their 27th World Series title. His contract was about to expire at the end of this month, but Cashman was still aiming at his offseason preparations. His preparation
was not without any confirmation, as he had mentioned about his deal in his statement a week before.
"It'll get done between now and Oct. 31st, I'm sure," Cashman said it last week. "I can't promise, but I think that's what everybody expects. I know it is something that everybody has to follow."
As a part of his duty, Cashman scouted on many players in three days of meetings in the last week. He reviewed the performance of every possible player who can be brought into the Yankees side for long run. He was committed to take any valuable player by
either free agency or trade.
Cashman will also fly to Tampa, Florida for an official organisational meeting, in which there might came major decisions for the up-coming year. Yankees lost in the American League Divisional Series by the Detroit Tigers and they will be looking to retool
before the start of the 2012 Spring Training.
It now has been confirmed that Cashman will be staying, but two of his associates are possible candidates for the Los Angeles Angels’ GM job. The Angels have scheduled interviews with both Billy Eppler and Damon Oppenheimer.
